I was looking up wristwatches on Google which somehow led me to the Wikipedia page for double clutch gearboxes followed by bolt action rifles before ending up reading about the Antikythera Mechanism.

Inb4 Panasonic 3DO or 8-Tracks.

I once heard of something called wikihunting. You start with one topic on wikipedia and try to reach another random topic by only clicking wikipedia links. A good time waster if nothing else. It could also give you a leg up if you're ever on a trivia game show.

TV Tropes is my favorite productivity vortex.

There's a reason we have TVTropes and Cracked blocked on the router, and had Wikipedia blocked as well for a few months.

Every time I watch a new series or film, I have to look it up on TV tropes. It's so addicting.

There's also a program out there that finds the number of links to "Philosophy", basically under the assumption that all wikipedia pages will end up on the page for "Philosophy" after you follow the first valid link in the article. You can play a game where you try to find the longest distance from Philosophy, or a never ending loop (and then try to find the longest loop).
